The Department of Commerce Supply and Consumer Protection Nepal has taken action against three firms during a recent market monitoring initiative.
Dasharath Grocery Pvt Ltd was fined Rs 50,000, while Sah and Sah Enterprises received a fine of Rs 10,000. Similarly, A and A Shopping Centre was fined Rs 5,000. The penalties were imposed after the firms were found engaging in illegal transactions, in violation of the Consumer Protection Act 2079.
In addition to the fines, the department directed 15 other businesses to improve and correct their practices.
The monitoring campaign was carried out in coordination with representatives from local authorities, consumer rights groups, and other stakeholders. The department has been conducting regular inspections in recent weeks as part of its ongoing efforts to enforce market regulations and protect consumers.
