According to the proposal, the project will be located across wards 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7 of Mapya Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality. The Department of Electricity Development has granted approval to the developer, Independent Power Company Nepal, to build the project as a semi-reservoir-based system.

An environmental impact assessment (EIA) report for the earlier run-of-the-river model has already been completed. A supplementary EIA report is currently being prepared to accommodate the revised semi-reservoir design.

For the project to move forward, more than 2,450 trees from a community forest will need to be cleared.

Once completed, the electricity generated will be transmitted to the New Khimti Substation in Devitar, Dolakha. The total project cost is estimated to exceed Rs 19 billion, with construction expected to be completed within five years, according to the developer.
