Lamahi, October 7 : The workers at the Sagarmatha Cement Industry in Dang have complained of underpayment. They said they were being paid Rs 400 per day against the minimum wages of Rs 517 fixed by the government.
They have not been given appointment letters as well. Worker Bharat Bhattarai accused the hand of middlemen in pushing them to such situation. “Middlepersons are exploiting the workers’ labor with the support of the industry,” he said.
There are 200 workers who have warned the industry management of protest if the minimum wage is not ensured. Workers’ leader Suman Roka said minimum wages and appointment letters as guaranteed by the Social Security Act and Labour Act must be guaranteed. RSS
