Kathmandu, January 10 : The Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology has granted Nepal Standard or NS mark to 28 goods produced by 22 Indian and Chinese industries.
Those receiving the NS mark are the OPC and PPC cement produced by the Aadhunik, Ultratech, Alstrom, India Cement Limited, Jayapirewa Plant, Star Cement, and Calcum Industries of India, LPG cylinder and valve produced by Rajasthan Cylinder Industry, Delhi LPG Valve, Gas Droid, Hari Udhyog, Prabha Electronic, Sarbamangalam Petroleum, Surya Shakti and Baltra Associates, India, Iron Bar from BK Steel Limited, Stat Steels and Saloja Steels, India.
Likewise, composite cylinders produced by Supreme Industry and Time Technoplates, India have also been awarded with the NS mark.
The Bureau has given the NS mark to a Chinese regulator company Ningbo Sui Xin.
Although the other countries had been providing their country’s standard mark to goods produced in Nepal or the Nepali industries since long, Nepal started providing its standard mark only recently when Nabindra Raj Joshi was the Minister for Industry.
Bureau director general Bishwa Babu Pudasaini said that the number of foreign industries acquiring the Nepal standard mark has been gradually increasing. “We have been granting NS mark to the foreign companies applying for the same after fulfilling the required process,” he said.
Similarly, the Bureau has granted license to 369 various types of goods of 60 differet products manufactured by 250 industries within and outside the country. RSS
