The 46th International Conference of IFAWPCA, the umbrella organization of construction professionals from 18 countries in Asia and the West Pacific region, will be held in the capital in the first week of November.

Rabi Singh, the president of the Federation of Contractors’ Associations of Nepal (FCAN), who is also the president of IFAWPCA, held a press conference on Friday and said that the preparations for the conference have reached the final stage. The conference, which will start from November 21, will continue until November 2.

President Ram Chandra Paudel will inaugurate the conference on November 21. Similarly, the IFAWPCA Forum will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on November 23, the federation said. President Singh mentioned that more than 500 people including 242 from abroad will participate in the conference. He also said that foreign representatives have started coming to Kathmandu to participate in the conference.

He said that the 46th IFAWPCA conference will be important to attract international investment in the development of the country’s physical infrastructure in the current situation where the entire world is going through an economic recession and Nepal is not immune to it. He informed that this conference will be fruitful for raising the issue of climate change strongly and also for the expansion of foreign tourism.

Announcing the programs of the conference, President Singh said that the official announcement of the conclusion of the conference will be made on November 24 along with the Kathmandu Manifesto. Registration for delegates attending the conference is scheduled for November 20, 21 and 22. Finance committee meeting, presidential conclave and executive board meeting will be organized on November 21. A meeting of various committees including the General Assembly will be held on November 22.

On this day, some participants of the conference will go on an observation tour to Basantpur and Swayambhu and the second executive board meeting and the Emerging Young Leaders program will be held, the federation has announced.

On November 23, the FCAN-IFAWPCA golf tournament will be held at Gokarna Golf Ground, and on November 24, a new working committee will be selected, and an executive board meeting of the working committee and a sightseeing tour of Bhaktapur Durbar Square will be arranged for some participants. Through this conference, Rabi Singh, the president of FCAN, who has been in charge of IFAWPCA President since last one year, informed in a press conference that the responsibility of IFAWPCA President will be transferred to Singapore.

During Singh’s tenure, Birendra Raj Pandey, who was also an advisor to FCAN, acted as the general secretary and Sushil Kumar Shrestha, a member of the working committee, acted as a board member. In order to complete the 46th IFAWPCA conference in a grand manner, a 21-member main organizing committee and 9 sub-committees under the main organizing committee have been formed under the coordination of IFAWPCA and FCAN president Rabi Singh.

Birendraraj Pandey, advisor of the federation and general secretary of IFAWPCA, said that everyone should cooperate to make the 46th IFAWPCA conference a success, which is linked to the country’s reputation.
