According to the Province Ministry of Energy, Hydropower and Drinking Water, production of a total of 3,295 KW electricity from 90 micro hydropower has become smooth after maintenance.

Engineer Jeewan Shrestha of the Energy Section said 15,440 households have benefited from the projects.

He shared that the province has around 400 micro hydropower projects, including 371 promoted by the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC).

Electricity has been accessible to 3.82 percent of the population of the province through solar power and micro hydropower. But, 99.50 percent of the province has access to electricity through the National Transmission Line and renewable energy, Shrestha informed.

The provincial government is constructing the 30-KW Bhimtang Micro Hydropower Project in Naso Rural Municipality of Manang on its own investment.

The ministry sources said the electricity of 98-KW Putpute rivulet micro hydropower project was also connected to the national transmission line.

The provincial government has advanced its preparation to declare ‘Ujyalo Gandaki Province’ campaign within the current fiscal year. The provincial government, as informed, was working to reach the access of the electricity to the remaining 0.50 percent population of the province i.e 2,480 households.
