Poverty alleviation, zero hunger, healthy livelihood, quality education, gender equality, safe drinking water, access to modern energy, climate change adaptation, and inclusive economic growth, among others, are the themes under the SDGs. Inaugurating the SDGs resource centre, National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timalsina said the resource centre would be very useful to gain knowledge on the related issues and work for achieving the SDGs. “SDGs are common goals of the world.

For the implementation of SDGs in Nepal, the NA had formed the committee. It works in collaboration with NGOs, private sectors and experts,” he informed. He urged the local levels to include budget for development activities, bearing in mind the SDGs. The Committee Chairperson Taradevi Bhatta said the centre would be made more resourceful gradually.

On the occasion, Auditor General Tankamani Sharma said his office had prepared two reports by conducting audit of the activities under the SDGs. According to National Planning Commission Member, Min Bahadur Shahi, it takes Rs 2025 billion annually to prepare plan annually to meet SDGs. Political leaders from both the ruling and opposition parties also spoke on the importance of the resource centre on occasion. The centre has managed a web portal https://digobikas.gov.np to share the information.
