June 2 : The government has come up with an 11-point action plan to bring back those Nepali citizens in the country who are stranded abroad due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokharel, who is also coordinator of the High-Level Coordination Committee for the Prevention and Control of COV- ID-19, informed that 17 entry points will be designated for Nepalis returning from India and Tribhuvan International Airport for those flying from other countries as per the plan.
Similarly, District administration offices, local bodies, provincial governments and the Nepali Army (NA) will be deployed in managing these returnees.
Those aspiring to return back will be evacuated on priority basis and they will have to produce recent polymerase chain reaction and rapid diagnostic test check-up certificates before boarding the flight. It is said that only 10 flights a day will be permitted to come to Nepal.
The plan also makes it clear that the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security will be assigned for bringing back the bodies of Nepalis who died abroad.
