June 2 : The government of the Gandaki state has announced to provide solar energy facility in the areas having no possibility of being connected to the national grid at the moment.
While presenting the annual policies and programmes of the state government for the Fiscal Year 2020/21, Chief of the Gandaki state, Amik Sherchan, said that such facility will be provided to 1,160 households of seven local levels in Mustang, Manang, Myagdi and Gorkha districts through grants.
On the occasion, he pledged to extend the access to the national transmission line in Gorkha, Nawalpur, Lamjung, Manang, Baglung, Myagdi and Mustang districts with cooperation from the Federal Government.

According to him, the notion of public-private partnership will be adopted to promote financial investment in the solar, wind and hydro energy sources. Moreover, the use of renewable energy within the state will be promoted and maintenance of the micro hydro-power projects will be carried out as per the necessity. Similarly, the state government is to promote the consumption of electricity for both industrial and household purposes.
It plans to provide grants to promote the use of electric stove so as to replace the use of LP (cooking) gas apart from continuing the works to replace around 70,000 wooden electric poles with steel poles in the next three years
