Kathmandu, October 20 : The federal government has decided to deposit the Dashain allowances of Prime Minister K.P Sharma Oli and the cabinet Ministers in the COVID-19 Prevention, Control and Treatment Fund. “A Cabinet meeting held here yesterday made such a decision. According to Government Spokesperson-cum- Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Parbat Gurung, the meet also urged the state governments to follow its decision.

Similarly, the federal lawmakers of both the ruling CPN and main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) have also decided to not to receive the festival allowances for financially support the fight against the prevailing pandemic.

Such lawmakers of the two parties made such a move after being widely criticized for receiving Dashain allowances earlier. They had drawn criticism from several quarters of the society for pocketing such money when the entire country is running out of financial resources to cope up with the alarmingly growing pandemic.
