It has already called a tender for the feasibility study of the tunnel route and the construction of the route would be started after the completion of the feasibility study, said former Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet.

Basnet shared, “Feasibility study is going to be carried out to construct the tunnel route and to open a track of the new road.” He further said that construction activities would be forwarded soon after the feasibility study as the tunnel would be the shortest route to link Jajarkot and Jumla.

The distance from Sangta of Jajarkot to Imilchaghari of Jumla is around 10 kilometers. Similarly, CPN (Maoist Centre) leader and Province Assembly member Ganesh Prasad Singh said that they had been demanding the government since earlier for the feasibility study of the project and the Department of Roads has already issued notice for the same.

One has to walk around 10 hours uphill to reach Jumla from Jajarkot and it would take only around 30 minutes to reach there after construction of the tunnel route, he added. Singh said they hope that their demand for long is going to be met.
