Miklajung, January 4 : Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the country has been moving a step forward each day.
PM Oli said so while addressing to a ceremony of laying down the foundation stone for construction of the Bhedetar-Rabi-Ranke road and the inaugural programme of the Central Electricity Transmission Line at Miklajung rural municipality here today. The Bhedetaar-Rabi-Raanke road connects four districts of eastern Nepal.
Stating that works are being carried out on a daily basis to make the country well-connected with transport facilities and brighter, he said, “Motorable roads are reaching all around from Mechi to Mahakali and the country is being illuminated by electricity. The campaign of building paved roads in every village would be moved ahead after all the districts were connected by roads.”
He shared that the programme to banish illiteracy has been expanded, saying the programme of providing corrugated zinc sheets to the families with thatched-roofed houses would be started.
“The post-earthquake rebuilding has completed 45 per cent. Even the reconstruction of the archaeological heritage has been accelerated,” he said adding that the process of operating ship in the Koshi River has also been moved forward.
“The talk of operating ship would now be turned into reality. This is not any topic for jest,” the Prime Minister said. He added that electricity production would be increased as power export agreement has already been reached. PM Oli urged the locals to opt for modernized agriculture and intensive production.
Miklajung rural municipality in Paanchthar district has been illuminated from electricity supplied through the central transmission line which has been inaugurated today itself.
On the occasion, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Raghubir Mahaseth said the gate to prosperity of the mountainous districts in Province-1 has opened with the guarantee of the Bhedetar-Rabi-Ranke road becoming metalled, describing the road as the backbone of the province government.
He also said the foundation stone of the construction of the Damak Chisapani Rabi Road would be laid soon. This road connects Rabi, the mid-point of the Bhedetar-Rabi-Ranke road, and Damak of Jhapa district.
The Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport further said that his ministry was proceeding ahead with a concrete action plan for fulfilling the dreams of the government. People of four districts would be benefited once this road which links various rural municipalities and municipalities in Morang, Dhankuta, Ilam and Panchthar districts is black-topped.
The 100-kilometer metalled road will be constructed at a cost of Rs 3,658,495,572 and it includes the VAT and PS as well. The APCO Infra-tech Pvt Ltd Lucknow owns the contract to construct the road. The Department of Roads and the Directorate for Road Improvement and Development Project Bhedetar-Rabi-Ranke road project will implement the project.
The agreement for the project was signed on November 19, 2018 and as per the deadline, the construction of a two-lane blacktopped road has to be completed by the next three years. The Exim Bank of India is investing Rs 87 percent and the Nepal Government bears the 13 percent of the total construction cost.
House of Representatives member Basanta Kumar Nembang viewed that the road linking Mechi and Koshi would open up the door to prosperity. On the occasion, chairperson of Miklajung Rural Municipality Amar Raj Makhim and Vice Chairperson of Mangsebung Rural Municipality Sunita Subba submitted to Prime Minister Oli a memorandum for the development of their respective villages.
