NEPSE slides down 8.75 points; daily turnover rises to Rs 4.483 billion

Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) welcomed the New Year 2024 by a downfall of 8.75 points to close at 2,060.15 points.

According to the NEPSE, the market on Monday opened at 2,068.90 points and hit the day’s high at 2,095.61 points in the first 40 minutes of trading. The index however went downhill in the remaining trading hours and declined around 38 points before the market closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also declined 0.37 points. The daily turnover amount slightly increased to Rs 4.483 billion from Rs 4.29 billion on Thursday. 

Five out of the 13 trading groups were the gainers. Manufacturing and processing added 63.92 points, the largest of all. Trading, development banks, investment and banking were recorded among the gainers. Of the losers, life insurance lost the highest of 180.54 points.  

Among individual companies, 159 were recorded as losers whereas 77 companies were the gainers.

Shivam Cements Ltd carried out the largest transactions of its shares worth Rs 201.37 million. Molung Hydropower Company Limited lost the highest of 8.09 percent of its market value. CEDB Hydropower Development Company Limited was recorded as the highest gainer.
