On Thursday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) dropped 32.81 points to close at 2,486.76. The market opened at 2,519.57 and reached a peak of 2,541.69 points within the first 25 minutes. However, it declined throughout the trading session, hitting a low of 2,480.42 points just before the market closed, recovering around six points in the final minutes.
The sensitive index, which tracks the performance of ‘A’ class companies, fell by 5.34 points. Daily turnover slightly increased to Rs 4.84 billion, up from Rs 4.81 billion on Wednesday.
Out of the listed companies, 38 saw gains while 202 recorded losses. Only two sectors—trading and manufacturing/processing—made gains, adding 35.15 points and 0.30 points, respectively. Among the declining sectors, hotels and tourism experienced the largest drop, shedding 145.63 points, followed by life insurance with a decline of 115.21 points and non-life insurance with a loss of 101.26 points.
Api Power Company Ltd recorded the highest turnover, with shares worth Rs 479.96 million. Green Ventures Limited was noted as the top loser, while Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd emerged as the biggest gainer, increasing its market value by 9.85%.
