The Government of Nepal’s total expenditure reached Rs 667.60 billion during the first six months of the fiscal year 2024/25, according to Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB). The data, sourced from the Ministry of Finance and the Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO), was published in NRB’s report, Current Macroeconomic and Financial Situation of Nepal (Based on Six Months Data Ending Mid-January, 2024/25).
During the review period, recurrent expenditure amounted to Rs 452 billion, capital expenditure stood at Rs 56.94 billion, and financial expenditure reached Rs 158.66 billion. Meanwhile, total revenue mobilization, including funds allocated to provincial and local governments, was Rs 559.61 billion. Of this, tax revenue accounted for Rs 489.40 billion, while non-tax revenue contributed Rs 70.21 billion.
The cash balance in various government accounts held at NRB was Rs 297.70 billion in mid-January 2025, marking a significant increase from Rs 83.99 billion in mid-July 2024.
In the first half of FY 2024/25, total provincial government expenditure stood at Rs 44.81 billion, while resource mobilization reached Rs 84.91 billion. This included Rs 67.17 billion in grants and revenue transfers from the federal government, along with Rs 17.74 billion generated through provincial revenue and other receipts.
