Nepal Telecom has announced that it will continue providing free voice, data and SMS services to customers in the Bhotekoshi flood-affected areas and nearby locations until further notice.
The company said the free communication facilities will remain available to support relief distribution and rescue operations in the disaster-hit region. Nepal Telecom had initially provided free voice calls, along with 2 GB of data and 50 SMS per day, from Bhadra 10 to Bhadra 14. The service has now been extended until further arrangements are announced.
Nepal Telecom has urged residents in the affected areas to make use of the free services as required.
The floods have also caused damage to several physical infrastructures of Nepal Telecom. However, the company said its technical teams have been continuously deployed to maintain communication services and carry out repair and maintenance work on the damaged infrastructure.
According to Nepal Telecom, most of the affected structures had been brought back into operation by Sunday, while technical teams continue working to restore the remaining services as soon as possible.
