More than half of Nepal’s population—56.06 percent—does not have access to insurance services, according to the latest data from the Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA).
As of mid-February, only 43.94 percent of Nepalis were utilizing insurance facilities, marking a slight decline from the 44.38 percent recorded at the end of the fiscal year 2022/23. The drop highlights a decreasing trend in insurance coverage across the country.
