A commercial mission from the Federation of European Businesses in India (FEBI) visited Kathmandu from May 6 to 7, 2025, at the invitation of the European Union Delegation to Nepal. The visit aimed to offer European investors firsthand insights into Nepal’s business climate, policy reforms, and emerging investment opportunities.

During the two-day mission, the delegation met with key Nepali officials, including Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Pandey, Chief Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada, and CEO of the Investment Board of Nepal Sushil Gyewali. Discussions centered around Nepal’s evolving investment environment and potential sectors for foreign investment.

EU Ambassador to Nepal Veronique Lorenzo praised Nepal’s efforts to enhance foreign investment despite ongoing challenges. She highlighted the EU’s growing focus on fostering investment in sectors aligned with Nepal’s national development goals and emphasized the need for stronger EU-Nepal business cooperation.

Nepali stakeholders briefed the visiting delegation on recent economic reforms, investment priorities, and future policy plans. They encouraged European investors to leverage Nepal’s expanding trade and investment landscape.

To reinforce institutional ties, FEBI and the European Economic Chamber Nepal signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), outlining a framework for knowledge sharing, business facilitation, and collaboration between European investors and Nepali businesses.

The delegation also conducted targeted consultations with honorary consuls, investment bankers, and industry leaders from energy, aviation, and information technology sectors to explore business-to-business partnerships. A high-level dialogue was held with participants from think tanks, government agencies, and the private sector to discuss strategies for enhancing investment cooperation.

This mission lays the groundwork for the EU-Nepal Business Forum 2025, scheduled for November, and is expected to bolster commercial ties between Europe and Nepal.
