More than 1.05 million foreign tourists visited Nepal during the first 11 months of 2025.
According to data from the Nepal Tourism Board, a total of 1,060,269 foreign tourists entered Nepal between January and November 2025 (from Poush 17, 2081 to Mangsir 14, 2082 in the Nepali calendar).
Tourism Board spokesperson Sunil Sharma stated that a significant number of tourists during this period came from 10 different countries.
Which countries did tourists come from?
Among all visitors to Nepal, citizens of neighboring India constituted the largest group. During the 11-month period, 262,345 tourists arrived from India.
Similarly, 105,239 tourists came from the United States, 86,800 from China, 54,450 from the United Kingdom (UK), and 50,940 from Bangladesh.
In addition, 44,377 tourists arrived from Australia, 36,968 from Sri Lanka, 28,975 from Germany, and 25,824 from Thailand.
Among the top 10 countries listed in the statistics, France recorded the lowest number, with 23,502 tourists visiting Nepal.
Overall tourist arrivals increased by 0.4 percent compared to the same period last year. In the first 11 months of 2024, Nepal welcomed 1,055,520 tourists.
On a monthly comparison, 116,553 tourists visited Nepal in November 2025 alone, which is 1.8 percent higher than November 2024, when 114,496 tourists arrived.
Improvement Despite the ‘Gen Z Movement’
Spokesperson Sharma said that Nepal’s participation in international tourism fairs and various promotional programs contributed to the increase in tourist arrivals.
He noted, “Although the Gen Z movement had some impact on arrivals, we intensified the promotion of Nepal’s major destinations through social media, which has resulted in a steady increase in tourist numbers.”
The Tourism Board has prioritized coordination with diplomatic missions and digital marketing.
Sharma also informed that, even before the movement began, the Board had organized visits for representatives of diplomatic missions to major tourist sites and held discussions on tourism promotion.
Currently, the Board is conducting live social media broadcasts on special days from eight major tourist destinations, including Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Boudhanath Stupa, Thamel, Swayambhu, Pokhara Lakeside, and Chitwan.
Additionally, the Board stated that promotional activities are being carried out in collaboration with various airlines and through the placement of hoarding boards at major destinations.
