The government has approved foreign loans amounting to $185 million (approximately Rs 27.5 billion) to enhance the nation’s digital infrastructure and advance sustainable development initiatives.
During a cabinet meeting held on Monday, officials endorsed a proposal to obtain funding from major international donor agencies as part of the Digital Nepal Transformation project. Under this initiative, Nepal will receive $50 million from the World Bank and $40 million from the Asian Development Bank, bringing the total to $90 million. These funds are intended to modernize digital systems and make public services more accessible through technology.
In addition, the cabinet approved $95 million in concessional loans from the World Bank for the Sustainable and Inclusive Development Project. This initiative focuses on promoting environmental sustainability, social inclusion, and long-term economic growth in Nepal.
