The survey states that the cooperative sector has mobilized savings worth Rs 1.029 trillion and has provided direct employment to 82,216 people.

A total of 19,903 cooperatives have been integrated into the Cooperative and Poverty Information Management System (COPOMIS), which was developed to maintain integrated data related to the cooperative sector. By the end of the previous fiscal year in mid-July 2025, 18,897 cooperatives had been linked to the system.

The National Cooperative Regulatory Authority has granted operational licenses to 834 cooperative institutions while continuing to regulate Nepal’s cooperative sector.

Among the 23 cooperatives declared problematic by the federal government, three institutions have completed the settlement process. Asset management and liability settlement of the remaining 20 cooperatives are still pending.

So far, claims worth Rs 47.60 billion have been registered by a total of 80,087 claimants in different phases.

The survey further notes that 3,688 claimants have received full repayments amounting to Rs 2.54 billion. Additionally, by mid-March of the current fiscal year, Rs 122.3 million had been refunded to 8,763 claimants.
