The House of Representatives on Thursday passed the Appropriation Bill by a majority vote, endorsing the budget for the upcoming fiscal year unveiled by the government on May 15.
Prior to the passage of the bill, ministers concerned responded to questions raised by lawmakers during the ministry-wise discussions on the Appropriation Bill. Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle answered questions on behalf of the government in Thursday’s meeting as well, following the absence of Prime Minister Balen Shah.
The absence of Prime Minister Shah drew objections from the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist), which criticized his failure to attend the parliamentary proceedings.
The next meeting of the House of Representatives is scheduled to be held on Friday.
