The government collected Rs 93.43 billion in revenue during the first month of FY 2026/27, marking a 10 percent increase compared to the same period last fiscal year.

According to the Financial Comptroller General Office, revenue collection increased by Rs 8.24 billion year-on-year. Of the total collection, Rs 85.19 billion came from tax revenue, while Rs 7.3 billion was collected as non-tax revenue.

The government also received Rs 240.3 million in foreign grant assistance during the first month, covering the period from mid-July to mid-August.

For FY 2026/27, the government has set an ambitious revenue target of Rs 1.642 trillion and allocated a total budget of Rs 2.124 trillion.

Government expenditure during Shrawan stood at Rs 41.88 billion, equivalent to 1.97 percent of the annual budget. Recurrent expenditure reached Rs 21.40 billion, or 1.68 percent of its annual allocation.

Meanwhile, capital expenditure remained particularly low at just 0.31 percent of the allocated Rs 431.01 billion, highlighting the slow pace of development spending at the beginning of the fiscal year.

Under the financing heading, the government spent Rs 19.15 billion, representing 4.53 percent of the annual allocation.
