The Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) has directed the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) to immediately provide details of listed companies that may have been affected by the recent floods.
The directive follows reports of damage to hydropower projects, transmission infrastructure and other physical assets located along the Trishuli and Bhotekoshi river systems, where several operational and under-construction projects have been affected.
SEBON has instructed NEPSE to exercise special caution regarding the securities trading of listed companies that could be directly or indirectly affected by the natural disaster.
Exercising its authority under Section 84(1) of the Securities Act, SEBON has asked NEPSE to prepare a detailed list of potentially affected listed companies and submit it to the Board without delay.
NEPSE has also been directed to collect detailed information from the affected companies regarding the impact of the disaster on their projects, assets, production, financial condition and overall business operations, and provide the information to SEBON.
