Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has again directed liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) industries to ensure dealers and retailers issue VAT bills for every cooking gas sale, warning of strict action against non-compliance. The directive follows complaints that some sellers charged Rs 2,700–3,000 per cylinder, above the fixed price of Rs 2,060, citing transport disruptions caused by floods and landslides.
NOC said mandatory billing would improve transaction transparency, protect consumers and help curb overcharging and black marketing. The corporation has issued similar directives in the past, but compliance remains a concern. The Gas Dealers Federation Nepal has welcomed the decision and pledged to implement the requirement.
