Madhyapur Thimi earns 977. 4 million

The Madhyapur Thimi municipality has made an income of Rs. 917.449 million in the current fiscal year. Of them, Rs. 118.6 million was generated through internal sources and Rs. 799.7 million from external sources.

Speaking at a press meet held here Saturday (May 25) to review the two years of assumption of office by the elected officials at the municipality, Mayor Madan Sundar Shrestha said of the budget endorsed by the second municipality assembly, 77.75 per cent income has been made as of mid May. The internal income target of Rs. 250 million however could not be fulfilled due to various problems.

As of mid May, the municipality has been able to spend only 34.48 per cent of the total budget. Mayor Shrestha however claimed that though capital expenditure worth Rs. 520 million has been made, it has been showing less as the arrears are yet to be cleared. He claimed of reaching the expenses to 60 to 70 per cent by the end of the fiscal year.

The municipality had allocated Rs. 881.2 million alone for physical infrastructure development. It also received Rs. 100 million from the State no. 3 government for development and implementation of a master plan for preservation of the historical, cultural and archaeological arts and artifacts in the municipality.
