The salary of non-gazetted officers will be increased by 20 percent while that of the gazetted officers will be hiked by 18 percent.

The civil servants include government employees, security personnel, teachers and state-owned corporation staffers.

With the latest increase in salary, the chief secretary will get Rs 65,136, the government secretaries 60,675 and the joint secretaries Rs 47,377. Similarly, Rs 40, 378 and Rs 35,990 will be received by under-secretaries and section officers respectively. Other non-gazetted officers will get between Rs 26,000 and Rs 28,000 whereas the salary of officer helper will be between Rs 19,000  and Rs 26,000

According to Minister Khatiwada, the increment will help boost the morale and productivity of the civil servants, thereby leading to effective public service delivery.

The government has increased the salary of the civil servants after a gap of three years. It was during the premiership of current Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in 2073 that the salary of the civil servants had last been increased.
