The Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) has helped more than 3.7 million households across Nepal gain access to renewable energy over the past 30 years, particularly in remote communities. The achievement was highlighted during a programme marking the centre’s 30th anniversary on Wednesday.
Energy Minister Biraj Bhakta Shrestha urged AEPC to link renewable energy with agriculture, industry and tourism, while encouraging greater private-sector investment. He also called for stronger efforts to mobilise international climate finance, promote carbon trading and develop Nepal’s renewable energy expertise for international markets.
Established on November 3, 1996, AEPC promotes renewable energy technologies, including solar power, micro-hydropower, biogas and biomass.
