Hetauda, February 26: The Bagmati State has initiated the process to ensure a settlement for the ethnic communities facing extinction. The Ministry of Physical Development and Planning of Bagmati State has allocated Rs 480 million for the housing to Raute, Chepang, Bote, Majhi, and Pahari communities of Makwanpur and Chitwan districts.
As many as 650 households from Makwanpur and 733 from Chitwan would be provided such a facility. Even the Dalit community would be provided housing. The cost for the construction of each house is estimated at Rs 350 thousand. The earthquake resistant house will have two rooms each. Planning Officer at the Ministry, Manoj Lamichhane, informed that the construction of the houses would start this year and completed by the next fiscal year.
To get the houses from the government, the people from the selected marginalized communities should submit the documents as per the criteria set by the office under the ministry. The Chepang and Bankariya people facing extinction have been elated over the government decision. Meanwhile, the State government has decided to intensify the construction of 47 police posts.
The Ministry for Internal Affairs and Law has said it has so far set up seven police posts. Minister Shalik Ram Jammakattel informed that Ministry was active for the peace and security management, for which police posts were necessary. RSS
