July 31-Minister for labour, employment and social security Gokarna Bista has today said that the government will lift ban on Nepali youths from going to Malaysia for employment after taking necessary measures.

While talking to media personnel at Biratnagar Airport in Biratnagar, he said,’ Nepali government will soon reach a labour related understanding with Malaysian government in order to ensure a secure and systematic working environment for Nepali youths in Malaysia. After reaching such bilateral agreement, Nepal will again start sending its workforce to Malaysia.”
Nepal is barring its workers from going to Malaysia because of ‘restrictive’ immigration requirements imposed on such workers by the Malaysian government.
Malaysia houses the largest chunk of Nepali migrant workers as half a million such workers are estimated to be working there.

Minister Bista also told the media personnel that Malaysia is keen to receive Nepali workers after reaching the related agreement at the soonest.
On July 28, the Malaysian government had urged the Nepali government to nullify the ban on Nepali workers as it would have negative effects on sectors such as plantation and construction.
