During the same period, the office has made 88.45 percent progress towards the target of collecting Rs. 46.14 billion. Chief of the Biratnagar customs, Shiva Bhandari, said that the office has managed to collect Rs. 12.45 billion more than the fiscal year 2019/20.

According to him, the total revenue of Rs. 28.36 billion was collected that year. In the same year, the office had achieved the target of collecting total revenue of Rs. 49.64 billion, which was less than Rs. 21.28 billion.

According to the information received from the office, the revenue of Rs. 32.81 billion was collected in the fiscal year 2017/18. During the same period, the target of Rs. 31.24 billion 48.81 million was increased by Rs. 1.56 billion, i.e. 105.02 percent.

Similarly, in the Fiscal Year 2018/19, only Rs. 38.28 billion was collected with the target of collecting Rs. 42.53 billion 19.18 million. Similarly, a total of Rs. 7 billion 219.41 million has been collected in the two months of July / August of the current Fiscal Year.

The revenue was Rs 3.34 billion in July and Rs 3.86 billion in August. In these two months, the office has progressed 115.82 percent in July and 100.13 percent in August, said Customs Officer Prakash Bhattarai.

Chief of Customs Shiva Bhandari informed that the revenue collection was not as per the target due to the global epidemic of Kovid-19 in the last fiscal year and the suspension of trade and import due to the ban announced by the Government of Nepal in April.

He said that despite such problems, the office has been able to raise customs duty to a large extent as it has been continuously monitoring the customs revenue.
