June 6 : The Federation of Contractors’ Association of Nepal (FCAN) has called for booking those involved in violent activities targeting the infrastructure development projects.
Recently, five stationary excavators being used for the construction of Kalyankot-Kalakate-Gadhawa-Sikta postal road at Gadhawa rural municipality-1, Jethangaun in Dang were torched by unidentified group. . Of them, four excavators were completely destroyed in the fire while one got partial damage. This is said to have causes losses amounting to billions of rupees .
Issuing a press release on Tuesday (June), the FCAN urged the government to arrest the culprits and ensure adequate safety measures not only for the construction equipment but also for the contractors active in development projects.
Lamenting that the Prime Minister, line ministers and security agencies’ chiefs have been downplaying the increasing incidents of launching violent activities targeting the development works, the federation said,”The concerned authorities must spring into action without much ado in this regard.”
