Kathmandu, April 17: A Chinese professor has claimed that the Chinese government’s initiative ‘Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)’ would contribute towards Nepal’s prosperity.
At a programme organized by the International Strategic Study Foundation Nepal here today, Peking University Professor Wang Dong reiterated that the BRI would help Nepal realize its motto-‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali.’ BRI was introduced by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2013. This is an international development project focused on connectivity and regional economic integration. Nepal had signed MoU on the Belt and Road Initiative in May 2017.
Chinese Prof Dong further asserted that the construction of physical infrastructure to be built under the BRI project would aid the development of Nepal and financial institution as the Asian Infrastructure Bank among others would help Nepal manage capital fund for development works. Moreover, he expressed his confidence that all the signatory states to BRI would benefit from it as it would contribute to economic growth of those countries.
Foundation’s Chief Bhaskar Koirala spoke of the need for Nepal to learn a lot from China, stating that China’s rapid economic growth was inspiring for Nepal. RSS
