The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has begun repaying the Rs 22 billion loan taken for the construction of Pokhara Regional International Airport (PRIA). The first installment of Rs 850 million has already been paid, and the second installment is expected by March.
The loan repayment plan spans 26 installments, with two payments scheduled each year. CAAN aims to complete the repayment within the next 12 years.
Although the airport has been operational for two years, regular international flights have not yet commenced, and international chartered flights remain infrequent. However, the facility caters to approximately one million domestic tourists annually.
