The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) is set to conduct a detailed flight safety audit of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) following the discovery of serious issues on their flight safety.
The CAAN issued a letter on Monday, informing NAC about the upcoming three-day continuous audit scheduled to commence on December 6. In response to suspicions of a significant error in flight safety, a team from the CAAN’s flight safety department conducted a random check on Monday.
The Chief of the Air Safety Department, Raju Shrestha, mentioned in the letter that all necessary arrangements should be made for the detailed audit scheduled to begin at 10:30 AM on Wednesday.
The audit by CAAN will focus on evaluating NAC’s safety management system. The European Union (EU) has also identified serious negligence in NAC’s safety management system. The EU’s report stated, “NAC’s safety management systems and operational compliance are lacking and are insufficient to identify and manage risks.”
