Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Narayan Khadka has said that MCC could be passed only after forging a consensus among political parties.
“There is a need to endorse the project that is much complicated and has attracted more attention of the incumbent government. But there is no possibility of passing the project without a consensus among political parties. So there is a need to hold consultations among political parties to this effect,” he said at a press conference organized here today by the Nepal Press Union, Udayapur.
The government will organize a discussion on the matter within the coalition partners and with the main opposition CPN (UML) to get the project endorsed when a consensus is reached, he said. A Triyuga river erosion control project has been established on the initiatives of the minister to control river erosion.
A budget worth Rs 8 billion has been allocated for the project, he said. The Minister reached Udayapur after inspecting flood-hit areas in many districts in Province 1.
