Construction has started on a 132-KV transmission line under the Myagdi Corridor, aimed at supporting multiple hydropower projects along the Myagdi River.
The project involves building double and multi-circuit transmission lines to connect electricity generated from three hydropower projects to the national grid. The 16.48-kilometre transmission line will run from Ward No. 3 of Jeltung Rural Municipality–4 in Dhawalagiri to the Dandakhet Substation of the Nepal Electricity Authority.
Purna Bahadur Pun, proprietor of Hydro Empire and a promoter of the Upper Myagdi Hydropower Project, stated that a total of 164.75 MW of electricity generated from the three projects will be integrated into the national power system.
The project will include the construction of 57 towers and is estimated to cost Rs 426 million. To facilitate development, 8.40 hectares of private land and 21.99 hectares of national forest land will be utilized.
Authorities have stated that the government will be compensated for the use of public forest land, while affected landowners will receive compensation for acquired property. Additionally, Rs 4.1 million has been allocated for environmental mitigation measures, and Rs 2.1 million has been set aside for social support programs.
The Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation approved the project’s initial environmental examination on March 25, 2025.
