June 19 : In the highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases, Nepal has racked up 671 new such cases on Thursday (June 18). With this, the total number of people contracting the disease reached 7,848, according to the Ministry of Heath and Population.
Similarly, two more people died of the coronavirus yesterday, thus taking such death toll in the country to 22.
19 persons, who had earlier tested positive for the disease, were also discharged after recovery yesterday. With this, a total of 1,186 COVID-19 patients have returned home after recovery.
As of today, 155,518 tests through Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method and 243,075 Rapid Diagnostic Tests (RDT) have been carried out, wherein 5,746 PCR and 9,532 RDT tests were carried out in the last 24 hours.
At present, there are 116,215 people under quarantine in various facilities across the country while 6,640 persons are in isolation.
