Kathmandu, October 29: The Ministry of Finance, and Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation Ministry have jointly decided to complete the work of distributing identity cards to the poor households within the current fiscal year.
During a meeting held at the Finance Ministry in the capital on Wednesday (October 28), such decision was made.
As per the meeting, the Land Management Ministry would prepare a schedule within a week to identify the poor households and to distribute identity cards to them.
On the occasion, Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel said that so far the government has been facing a difficulty to run the relief, employment and other subsidy related programmes targeting the poor families because of the lack of effective data/records about them. “However, the provision of distributing identity cards will help ease this problem.”
Similarly, Minister for Land Management Padma Kumari Aryal underscored the need to properly utilize the resources while running the social security programmes based on poor ID cards. —
