As part of its enforcement drive under the slogan “Clean and Competitive Market: A Sustainable Foundation for Consumer Protection,” the department took immediate action against non-compliant businesses. Seven firms were directed to present their documents, including Spark Auto Care Pvt. Ltd. (Kathmandu Metropolitan City-8), which was ordered to suspend sales until further review.

The other six firms instructed to submit documents include:

  • Gaurang Sarees Pvt. Ltd. (Kathmandu Metropolitan City-31)
  • CG Motors Pvt. Ltd. (Lalitpur Metropolitan City-2)
  • Asian Biscuit & Confectionery Pvt. Ltd. (Biratnagar Metropolitan City-9)
  • Season IT (Kathmandu Metropolitan City-22)
  • Urban Gears (Kathmandu Metropolitan City-31)
  • Gavino Fashion Wear (Kathmandu Metropolitan City-31)

Meanwhile, the sales suspension previously placed on BG Automobiles Pvt. Ltd. (Kathmandu Metropolitan City) has been lifted.

The DoCSCP emphasized that inspections will continue regularly to ensure consumer rights are protected and the market remains fair and transparent. Businesses have been reminded of their legal obligations and the importance of compliance.

In a significant move to enhance transparency, the DoCSCP has made it mandatory to display the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) on all items effective from April 2, excluding goods sold by weight or measurement.

Director-General Kumar Dahal stated, “We have mandated MRP for all items except those sold by weight or measurement.” This step is aimed at eliminating pricing fraud and ensuring that MRP is clearly listed—from everyday goods to large vehicles.

These actions follow strict directives issued by Industry, Commerce, and Supplies Minister Damodar Bhandari to eliminate consumer fraud and promote fair business practices across the country.
