Indian Railway Company Corporation is preparing a detailed project report (DPR) of the Raxaul-Kathmandu railway after conducting a feasibility study, Nepal Railway Company said on Tuesday.
A technical team from Indian Railway is preparing the DPR of the 136-kilometre railway.
General Manager of Nepal Railway Company, Niranjan Kumar Jha, said, “The report will be prepared within a month.” Construction of the railway will take momentum after the approval of report.
Nepal sent an official proposal to India in 2077 BS to prepare DPR after Nepal and India signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the preliminary feasibility study of the Raxaul-Kathmandu railway on September 1, 2019.
DPR is being prepared as per the proposal, said Jha. The Indian Railway Company, Konkan, had prepared a report with the coordination of the Government of Nepal in eight months. As per the preliminary study, the tunnel and special types of bridges will be constructed along the 136km railway line.
