Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel has stated that this year’s budget process has followed an unusual practice. Speaking at a press conference held at the Ministry on Sunday, he highlighted that the principles and priorities of the budget were formulated by one finance minister, the budget speech was prepared by another, and its implementation is now under his purview.
He explained, “One finance minister introduced the principles and priorities of the budget, another prepared the budget statement, and now I am here to pass and implement it.”
The Finance Minister also claimed that there is no significant problem in the economy. He dismissed rumors that banks have collapsed and the economy is in crisis, labeling them as mere propaganda.
Poudel stated, “Credit flow is increasing. Just as deposits are growing, credit expansion is also happening gradually. Investments in banks are improving. Rumors that banks have collapsed or the economy is in crisis should not gain traction. The economy and banks are not sinking. The economy is neither collapsing, nor have banks failed. Baseless rumors should not be spread. There might be isolated issues, but they can be resolved. We should not propagate failure over minor problems.”
