The size of Nepal’s overall economy is projected to be Rs 5381.34 billion with an increase of 1.86 point percent in the consumer price in the fiscal year 2079/080 BS.
Organizing a news conference by the National Statistics Office on Tuesday, the GDP per capita of Nepalis would be 1,399 US Dollars in the current fiscal year while the remittance inflow is projected to be Rs 1231.73 billion.
On the occasion, Chief Statistics Officer Ram Prasad Thapaliya said the statistics were made public to help formulate economic policy of the country by measuring different aspects of economy with its size and help monitor and assess the economic development activities.
Likewise, Deputy Chief of the Office, Dr Hemraj Regmi, said that agriculture has the highest contribution to the country’s GDP in the current fiscal year with 24.12 per cent.
However, the industrial sector has the contribution of just 5.32 per cent in the GDP.
The economic growth rate of Nepal is projected to be 2.16 percent this year.
The National Statistics Office (NSO) has estimated that the economic growth rate of Nepal in the current fiscal year will be 1.86 percent in consumer prices and 2.16 percent in basic prices.
