Electricity supply to Simikot, the headquarters of Humla district, has been disrupted since Tuesday due to a technical problem at the Hildum Distribution Center of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).

The prolonged power outage has affected daily life in the remote district headquarters, with the NEA stating that electricity service will remain suspended until further notice.

According to Krishna Prasad Oli, information officer at the Humla distribution center, the disruption was caused by a problem in the control system of Unit 9 at the power house. He said the available technical manpower in Humla is unable to resolve the issue immediately.

The necessary materials and additional technical personnel have already been requested. However, the NEA has yet to confirm when they will arrive, making it unclear how long the repair work will take.

The NEA has issued a public notice informing residents that the electricity supply will remain disrupted until the technical problem is resolved and a further notice is issued.

As the prolonged outage continues to affect everyday activities, local residents have called for immediate alternative arrangements to restore electricity supply. They have also demanded a long-term solution to the frequent power disruptions affecting Humla.
