Kathmandu, November 23 : The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection (DoCSCP) has inspected a total of 1,071 firms in the first four months of the current fiscal year.
Out of them, it took action against 315 firms for duping the consumers and suspended the operations of 28 others for duping the general customers in the review period.. These erring firms include electronic shops, clothing stores, food stores, grocery shops, departmental stores, livestock traders, vegetable shops, liquor shops and sweet shops, among others.
It is said that the department collected a total of Rs 11.8 million by imposing the fines on them. The department also destroyed date expired food items worth Rs six million.
