Govt to establish fertilisers factory as multi-year project

Presenting the policies and programmes of the government for the fiscal year 2023/24 at a joint session of the Parliament on Friday, President Ramchandra Paudel announced that a programme to establish a chemical fertiliser factory would be implemented as a multi-year project in order to provide chemical fertilisers to the farmers in time.

He also unveiled a policy to encourage the establishment of factories of organic fertiliser at the local level.

The government has also announced to bring a land use policy in coordination with all three levels of government.

President Paudel said that a land use policy would be introduced to use the land effectively.

He said that the government would encourage youth-oriented cooperation and a community farming system to promote agriculture on unused and barren land.

Similarly, the President said that the government would establish cold storage, agricultural storage and distribution centres at each local level in collaboration with the provincial and local levels.

President Paudel announced that a self-sufficient local economy would be built through the policies of ‘one village, one agriculture production,’ ‘one ward, one special product,’ and ‘one municipality, one production area’.

The government’s policy document has included a provision to encourage land consolidation to increase agricultural production.

Similarly, the government has announced that the agricultural and food laboratories would be made of international standards.

“Necessary arrangements will be made for maintaining international standards of our laboratories,” he said.

Due to the lack of international standards, there has been no demand for Nepali products abroad, and Nepali businessmen have been unable to export their goods. Nepali businessmen have been emphasising the establishment of internationally recognised laboratories to increase exports.
