The House of Representatives has passed the budget for the fiscal year 2082/83, amounting to NPR 1.964 trillion. The decision was made during Tuesday’s parliamentary session.
Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel presented the Appropriation Bill, 2082, proposing its approval. The bill was passed by a majority vote.
Rastriya Swatantra Party and Rastriya Prajatantra Party Boycott Session
Despite the budget’s passage, the fourth-largest party, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), and the fifth-largest, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), were notably absent from the session. Both parties continued their boycott of the House, citing dissatisfaction over the government’s handling of the visit visa scandal.
Since Jestha 14, RSP and RPP have been demanding the formation of a high-level parliamentary investigation committee or a judicial commission to probe the visa scandal, and have resorted to slogans and walkouts as forms of protest.
