The Foreign Employment Board (FEB) has issued a strong advisory, urging individuals seeking foreign employment to exercise caution and avoid falling prey to fraudsters offering enticing job opportunities in South Africa. The Board has highlighted the recent surge in fraudulent activities carried out by such unscrupulous individuals.

In an official notice released on Friday, the Foreign Employment Board revealed that these fraudulent operators have been deceiving job aspirants by providing them with false work permits, only to abandon them later. The FEB has made it clear that the tourist visa issued by the Office of the High Commissioner and Consulate General of South Africa, based in India, is strictly intended for tourism purposes and does not authorize any form of employment in South Africa.

This alarming trend has exposed a human trafficking racket that has already swindled millions of rupees from over 150 victims. The perpetrators exploit social networking platforms to entice unsuspecting job seekers with promises of lucrative employment opportunities in South Africa, despite the illegality of working on a tourist visa.

Guru Datta Subedi, Director and Information Officer of the Board, emphasized the legal consequences of engaging in employment while visiting South Africa on a tourist visa.

The FEB, as the regulatory authority for foreign employment, has urged all aspiring job seekers to be cautious, conduct thorough research, and rely on verified channels and agencies to ensure their safety and legitimate job prospects abroad.
