Nepal imported goods worth Rs 18.68 million and exported goods amounting to Rs 3.89 million through the Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) in the first four months of the current fiscal year.

The records with the Department of Customs (DoC) show that the country’s second international airport carried out the aforementioned amount of foreign trade during mid-July and mid-November. The GBIA started commercial flights on May 15.

Likewise, Nepal imported goods worth Rs 55.92 billion via Tribhuvan International Airport during the same period. The export via air service of this international airport stood at Rs 12.25 billion.

Similarly, the import figure through Birgunj Customs, the largest gateway of the country’s foreign trade, was Rs 196 billion and the export amount was Rs 13.94 billion.

The newly built Chovar Dry Port carried out imports of Rs 156.80 million and exports of Rs 3.38 million in the first four months. The dry port was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on April 5. 

According to the DoC, Nepal’s total import during the review period was Rs 532.69 billion while the country made up export earnings of 54.77 billion.
