Two Hydropower Projects on Rahughat River Add 58.8 MW to National Grid

Raju Prasad Pyakurel, the spokesperson at the Inland Revenue Department, says from now onwards, the Nepal government will charge a two per cent tax on every transaction happening on any of the Google platforms.

The government made the provision for the registration of internet-based platforms where financial transactions happen for the first time in the budget plan for the current fiscal year. Accordingly, a provision for the digital service tax has been introduced.

The government hopes Google’s move will put pressure on other global tech giants such as Facebook to register with the Nepal tax system.
